Air New Zealand became the first airline to launch the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner to the world and next week it will be flying into Fiji as well.

Air New Zealand’s inaugural Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner service from Auckland to Nadi is scheduled to depart Auckland at 8.50am (NZT) next Saturday on October 24.

The aircraft is said to have been designed with passenger happiness in mind.

The 787-9 aircraft – which seats 302 – will feature Air New Zealand’s award-winning in-flight product from the Business Premier lie flat bed at the front of the aircraft through to Economy and Economy Skycouch seating and Premium Economy seats in between.

There are other benefits such as larger windows, higher humidity, a lower cabin altitude and cleaner air to maximise passenger comfort and ensure customers arrive at their destinations feeling refreshed.

Air New Zealand confirmed lead in fares for these flights will not differ to those currently available.

Air New Zealand has however stressed the 787-9 services are not additional flights.

“They replace other aircraft currently operating Auckland – Nadi services,” it said responding to questions from the Fiji Sun.

“Please note that route will continue to be operated by a mix of aircraft including the 787-9, 777-200 and A320.”
