Major Bogidrau Laid To Rest

The Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) farewelled one of its long-serving officers on Wednesday.

The funeral service for Major Setareki Bogidrau, director Force Development and Strategic Command at the RFMF Headquarters was held at Tuvasu Hall, Queen Elizabeth Barracks, Nabua, in Suva.

He died in his sleep last Wednesday.

While delivering the eulogy, Captain Mikaele Wara commended Major Bogidrau for his 33 years of service to the RFMF and for being a hardworking colleague.

Major Bogidrau joined the RFMF on January 31, 1982 after undergoing a basic recruitment course.

In March the same year, he was part of the Officer Cadet Course and went on to join the Fiji Infantry Regiment Depot before being commissioned as a Second Lieutenant.

He was promoted to Lieutenant in 1988 and to the rank of Captain in 1991. He was also part of the Peace Monitoring Group in Bouganville in 1999 before being promoted to Major in 2004.

Cpt Wara said Major Bogidrau had served in several peacekeeping missions in the Middle East including Kuwait, Lebanon, Sinai and East Timor.

In 2004 he was the liaison officer for the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands (RAMSI).

The late Major Bogidrau was buried at the Military Cemetery at Nasinu 9 Miles, on Wednesday.

He is survived by his wife and Netball Fiji president, Wainikiti Bogidrau and their daughter.
