The Saturday Business Lift-out (October 10) contained a story on the Waiqele Sawmill Commercial Complex. Here are some additional details.
Amad Begg is the appointed director and the managing director is Aziz Begg who is also the co-founder of Waiqele Sawmill Limited.
Waiqele Sawmill Limited was co-founded by Jaffar Begg and Aziz Begg. Unfortunately, Jaffar Begg died in his early 40’s and Aziz Begg took over operations.
When Amad Begg was old enough to join the business, he undertook operations alongside his uncle Aziz Begg.
The Valelevu property, the Waiqele Sawmill Commercial Complex which is currently being established, was bought back in 2004 in consideration of developing.
The company chose not to invest then until they had the funds ready to do the development.
In terms of the growth acquired from the development, the new Waiqele Sawmill Commercial Complex is a growth for all employers of the company including board members.
As reported earlier, Waiqele Sawmill Limited has opened a similar complex in Labasa however; this was established by Aziz Begg in 1990.
He later transferred the complex to Waiqele Sawmill Limited to be shared amongst the family.
Waiqele Sawmill Limited is a family-owned business and both founders sons have shares in the property.
In regards to the future of the company, the shares will go forward to the children of the co-founders who are currently shareholders or up to the discretion of the Board of Directors.

About Waiqele Sawmill Commercial Complex
The $5 million multipurpose complex is situated along Ratu Dovi road in Valelevu, Nasinu.
The two storey complex is expected to have 15 units in a ‘U-Shaped’ structure.
It will also cater for 30 to 40 parking facilities.
