Sabeto Roosters aim to be bigger and better next year following their outing at the inaugural Melanesian Club Championship in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea (PNG).

Sabeto Roosters were given the opportunity to travel to PNG to play the Digicel Cup champions Agmark Gurias after defeating Nabua Broncos 16-6 in the finals of the Vodafone Cup here.

Although they lost 42-2 to Agmark Gurias, team co-ordinator Ratu Kaliova Lumuni said there were some lessons to learn, which will help improve the performance of the team.

“The level of competition was different, a lot different from here but we are proud of the boys because they gave it their best shot,” he said.

“We gave them a run for their money in the first half but they were just too strong for us in the second half, but regardless the boys played their hearts out.

“We are planning to build a gym and a rugby ground where we can train and implement what we have learnt in PNG.”

Lumuni thanked sponsors  Tau Sports, CGenx (PNG), PS Nagra, HD Enterprises, KBL Buses, All Engineering, Koroiyaca Women’s Group, Swamy Supermarket, Anil Singh, Jacks Handicraft, Vanua Mtantu O Betoraurau.
