As part of the Methodist Youth Fellowship (MYF) yesterday, youths of Navuloa Methodist Church in Nakasi spoke about social issues affecting youths of today.
The youths spoke on child negligence, abuse, prostitution, robbery with violence, the media, pornography, teenage pregnancies, unemployment and other issues.
While addressing the congregation and youth, the church’s MYF vice president, Bulou Varanisese Tauyavuca, said the change in time and the introduction of new technologies has brought about these issues.
“When we see these things happen it is sad because it’s affecting the lives of many youths especially when they are involved in it,” Bulou Tauyavuca said.
“The evangelisation of youths is a very good way of tackling these issues because it gives them hope that there is life if they come to God.”
Meanwhile, church minister, Reverend Ratu Emori Caucau, said the MYF was the youth wing of the church and one of its main priorities was to help youths get closer to God.
“The church believes that there is no better place to prepare youths then in church,” he said.
The church has 70 youth members.
