This is part of Pillar 3 of the ministry’s education reforms dealing with improvement of infrastructure: Reddy

The Minstry of Education will change its level of service delivery next year, says Minister Mahendra Reddy.

This was part of his address while speaking at the opening of Annesley Infant School’s computer lab and library yesterday.

The Minister was referring to maintenance of school properties, especially church-run schools.

He said this was part of Pillar 3 of the Ministry Of Education’s reform as it dealt with improvement of infrastructure.

Mr Reddy said the Methodist Church had contributed a lot to education through their own schools like other religious organisations.

However, he said the maintenance of these schools had not been properly carried out.

He gave his assurance to the Methodist Church and other bodies that had their own schools that Government would take over the maintenance of all the schools.

Mr Reddy said works had already started in rural schools in the Yasawa and Kadavu groups and would continue from there.

“We already have a four-year plan and by the end of this period we expect to cover all schools,” he said.
