This is the picture of the young boy tied to a post and posted on Facebook.

Police are seeking information from the public on the identity of a child and/or a woman on a Facebook post which had been reported to them.

The post, which was reported last week, showed how a little boy about four-years-old being tied to a pole.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirms  they have a picture which was uploaded on Facebook by the woman and Police are now seeking further information.

“We have managed to receive some information and anyone who can further assist in identifying the child or the woman who is alleged to have posted the photo will be great help; also this can be a fake Facebook account.

“However, anyone with further information is kindly requested to call the Criminal Investigations Department Cyber Crimes Unit on 3315599.”

Fiji Human Rights and Anti Discrimination Commission chairperson Mohammed Ajmeer said that the rights of children are enshrined in Fiji’s Constitution and corporal punishment has been abolished through the Fijian courts.

“The Commission urges Police and Department of Social Welfare to conduct investigations and identify the perpetrator and bring him/her to justice,” Mr Ajmeer said. Litia Cava
