Students at the Nadi Special School were delighted when the queens vying for the Miss Pacific Islands Pageant visited their school yesterday.

Head teacher Shiro Felix said the visit was special to the students.

“We are really grateful that the contestants have visited us today (yesterday). The smiles and the looks in the students face shows how happy they are,” Mr Felix said.

“This is a very exciting moment for the students because most of them cannot make it to the festival so this is the opportune time for them to chat and meet the queens here in their own classrooms and their own schools.

“It is great for them to visit our special school as most people don’t visit us. The Bula Festival queens had always visited us but with these special queens visiting us, it’ really immense,” he said

He also encouraged members of the public to visit the school.

“Our school keeps its doors open to anyone who wishes to visit and we are proud and happy to have anyone visit the kids.

“This is something that makes the children’s lives more exiting and enjoyable,” he said.

Meanwhile Miss Tavua Sheetal Raj thanked the school for allowing them to visit.

“This is the first time for me to visit the special school and I count myself blessed  because I get the chance to meet these very special children,” she said.
