Raj wants to end 15-year losing streak

The Nadi soccer team are out to win the Under-14 and U12 titles in the Bongo 40th Fiji Primary Schools Football Association (FPSFA) Inter-District Championship in Labasa to end their losing streak in the annual event.

Team head coach Abhinesh Raj revealed they had not won any title for 15 years.

Mission

“We did not come to Labasa to enjoy, but to participate and perform well. Thanks to all the schools in Nadi, teachers, generous donors and players’ parents for their support,” Raj said.

“This is the first time for them to travel to Labasa as a team to participate in this tournament. Even though it has been 15 years that Nadi has not returned home winning this tournament, this year we will not be   empty handed.”

Raj said their team consisted of players from 31 schools in Nadi.

“We are confident that at least four players from Under-14 would be selected for the national team.

“To bring two teams from Nadi to Labasa is a very costly affair. We have spent $4000 on travelling and we have set aside $2000 for food and other expenses,” he said.

Nadi U12’s first match is against Rewa at 10am while the U14 face neighbours Lautoka at 10.30am.
