Navua is among the teams to watch in the Bongo 40th Fiji Primary Schools Football Association Inter-District Championship (IDC) in Labasa today.

The group consists of 26 players.

Navua Primary Schools Soccer Association (NPSSA) president Ritesh Prasad said the players were eager to play despite the difficulties they faced at home before leaving for Labasa.

“We had some financial problems, but we’re thankful for those who came onboard to help us, specially Dhirendra Singh of Taunovo Bus Limited, Nimseh Chand of Van Tex Solutions, Amrit Lal of Navua Football Association or families and friends.

“We nearly paid $2700 for our fare and last year our Under-14 did not qualify and our Under-12 made it to the semifinals.  They also won the Under-12 title during the Primary Schools IDC in Lautoka on 2013, so we are banking on our Under-12 players to do us proud.

“The main thing that we have stressed to the students is discipline.

“Due to some differences we had to drop some senior students who had attitude problems,” Prasad said.

The team is camping at Batinikama Primary School.
