Yuan Wang 5, China’s latest generation of all-around space tracking ship was in the country for seven days, at the Port of Suva. The vessel arrived had arrived on October 1.

The Chinese Embassy in Suva confirmed that the main purpose of Yuan Wang 5 calling at the Port of Suva was mainly for supplies, such as vegetables, fruits, fresh water and a short break time for the crew.

“Yuan Wang ships have called at Port of Suva many times in the past years. “The beautiful view and friendly people gave them a good impression,” the Chinese Embassy said in a statement.

For the same reason, Yuan Wang 3 called in at Suva in August this year.

Local shipping agent, Pacific Agencies (Fiji) Limited confirmed the 220-metre long vessel carrying a crew of 288 Chinese displaces 25,000 tons and is set to continue its tracking missions after the replenishment.

The vessel left the country on October 7.

Their last port was Jiang Yin, China and next port was bound for the high seas.

Yuan Wang 5 is the third generation tracking ship of Yuan Wang series, and entered service on September 29, 2007. Built by Jiangnan Shipyard, Yuan Wang 5 has a displacement of 25,000 tones and be able to withstand wind scale up to 12, and perform duties in sea state 6.
