Fiji Football Association (FFA) has increased grants from $16,500 to $24,000, through their sponsor CJ Patel Group to the Fijian Primary Schools Football Association (FPSFA).

FPSFA president Ami Chand made this announcement during the opening of Bongo 40th FPSFA Inter-District Championship in Labasa yesterday.

The news was well received by all Under-12 and U14 players and teachers at Guru Nanak Primary School.

Chand said FPSFA has decided to provide $10,000 to all districts for preparation grant.

“I salute all district officials for sacrificing a lot in order to get their teams to Labasa.

“Many districts had to raise a lot of money to meet the expenses to participate in this tournament,” he said.

“The prizemoney has been increased with winner of U14 getting $500 and runner-up $250.

Winner of U12 will get $400 and runner up will get $200.

“We hope that everyone will enjoy the three-day tournament.”

U14 overseas tour

Chand said if the FPSFA executives’ plan works out then they will take one U14 team overseas next year.

“We are planning to take the team either to New Zealand or Australia,” Chand said.
