Sainimere Rauluni, 57, was awarded a medal for meritorious service in a particular locality by the President, Ratu Epeli Nailatikau, during the Order of Fiji awards last week.
Her love of serving people has reached the world over and she will continue to do so with God and her family.
Mrs Rauluni is originally from Wailevu Village in Cakaudrove.
“My work started right after my husband, Taito Rauluni, retired from teaching in 2002; he had to go back and help the people in his village of Qarani in Gau and in 2005 he became the Roko for Lomaiviti,” she said.
Mrs Rauluni saw her husband’s new post of being Roko as a calling for her and that her responsibility lay with it too.
“My husband’s work includes serving the people from the three neighbouring Islands in the Lomaiviti group – Gau, Nairai and Batiki and it was then that we began our work together,” she said.
“There were cultural exchange students who came in from Australia, New Zealand and as far as Japan to learn more about our culture.”
