Redrock is hoping to make a comeback this year and win the UON Central Coast 7s tournament which kicks off today in New South Wales, Australia.
The team reached the semifinals last year but lost to defending champions Davetalevu 24-12.
Having won the Adelaide 7s (October 10), Griffith Fiji Day 7s (October 16) and Melbourne 7s (October 18) in a span of two weeks, Coach Lote Rasiga said they are out to take the Central Coast 7s title.
“We have been preparing really well with this good weather we are having and we are just keeping really positive,” Rasiga said.
“We have been playing in a few 7s competitions and have come out victorious so that has also been a preparation platform for us.
“There have been a few changes to our team this year compared to the team we brought last year, there have been around five changes and we are confident that the boys can pull off a win this time.”
With other teams such as Yamacia, Daveta, Tabadamu and New Zealand development, Rasiga said that it will not be an easy tournament to win.
“Our biggest competitors are the other teams from Fiji and also the New Zealand development and Australia,” he said.
“We know it will not be easy for us but I know that the boys will try their best and no matter what the outcome will be, there will be a lot to gain from this tournament that will aid the boys in their rugby careers.”
Redrock is in Pool C with Aussie Thunderbolts, Germany and Rangataua from New Zealand.
