Allowing the human resources department to actively engage in helping determine strategies has reflected in overall positive delivery of goals for FMF Foods Limited.

FMF Foods managing director, Ram Bajekal, highlighted this during the BSP Fiji Human Resources Institute Convention at the Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa on Denarau Island.

Mr Bajekal’s point was that Human Resources can be more than just being head administrators.

“It is important to know that HR department help drive strategies of the company and align the entire workforce towards that strategy,” Mr Bajekal said.

“Very few are given the opportunity to actually engage in determining the strategy of the company and channelling the HR towards delivering the strategic goals,” he said.

Mr Bajekal believes this is where the CEO and the directors need to come in and start looking at the HR departments as one with potential.

Mr Bajekal demonstrated how his HR officers work in the company and encouraged the participants do the same thing they had done.

“In some ways what FMF has done will inspire the people that are attending this consultation to see what is possible and try and do the same thing in their organisation if it relevant to them,” he said.

“It is doing what is more relevant to each organisation.”

The three-day convention ends today.

It has featured a range of local and international speakers.
