Another 1200 Teachers Needed

Our primary schools need another 1200 teachers in the next four years to end composite classes, says Minister for Education Mahendra Reddy. He said at the moment some teachers were taking composite classes.
In such a situation, teachers would not be able to deliver properly as they were taking on extra work that should have been done by another teacher.
He said one of the education pillars was on the delivery of teachers and they would gradually increase recruitment.
He said this was to ensure a gradual increase in the number of teacher intakes over the next four years
“The number of teachers in primary schools with less than eight teachers will be increased to meet a target of eight teachers for these schools,” he said.
Mr Reddy said the main objective of this was the delivery of quality teaching to the children.
