Great Pacific Hotels Limited Ba Under 12 team beat Seaqaqa 3-1 in the Bongo 40th Fiji Primary Football Association (FPSFA) School Inter-District Championship (IDC) final yesterday.
The match was held at Guru Nanak Primary School in Labasa.
In the firsthalf John O’Neill of Ba scored the first goal.
In the secondhalf, Samuela Navoce of Ba scored the second goal from a penalty kick.
Seaqaqa striker Bola Rafaele reduced the deficit with a goal.
But Samuela Navoce sealed the win from a free-kick.
Ba coach Arveen Chand said they dedicated the win to their district, fans and Navneel Jit Singh whose uncle died on Thursday.
“Navneel could not play in the final because he left in the morning for Ba,” Chand said.
“The last time Ba won was in 2012 and then last year we were runner-up after losing to Nadogo.
“We thank the Ministry of Education, parents, teachers and our main sponsor, Great Pacific Hotels Limited for their support and blessings.
Such a win is a proud achievement for the team and district.”
Ba won the Best Dressed Team Award during the opening on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Seaqaqa players were disappointed and coach Mohammed Sahid said it was unfortunate that they lost to Ba.
“It was a tough game for my players, but I am glad they tried their very best to reach the final,” he said.
“Next year we will come better prepared,” he added.
