The inaugural Miss Fiji will be crowned in Nadi this evening.
It brings to an end the three-day Telecom Miss Fiji Pageant at Prince Charles Park.
One of the 10 queen contestants from our local municipalities will be the first to wear the crown and represent Fiji in the Miss Pacific Islands Pageant in the Cook Islands in December.
Since Wednesday night, Prince Charles Park has come alive with fun-filled activities and entertainment.
Judge co-ordinator Ana Tuiketei said they were impressed with the quality of talents displayed on stage by the contestants.
Pageant chairman Hirdesh Prasad said the event represented Fiji as a united and multicultural nation.
“The pageant has and will bring people from all walks of life together from all parts of Fiji to not only celebrate in the festival, but also to find the young woman who will represent all Fijians at the Miss Pacific Islands Pageant,” he said.
The contestants on Wednesday night beautifully portrayed the art of masi fused with modern elegant styles.
On Thursday night, during the public judging, contestants spread their messages boldly through drama, songs, dance and art.
During the week they visited organisations and corporate bodies within the Nadi-Lautoka corridor and paid a courtesy call to the Tui Nadi, Ratu Sailosi Dawai, at Narewa Village.
The contestants competed in a sarong and research topic on Thursday night.
The sarong competition is one of the many highlights of the Miss Pacific Islands Pageant.
