MP Maharaj Hears Road Concerns In The North

The impact that bad road conditions have on the community was a hot topic discussed during a meeting with a visiting Member of Parliament in Labasa.
MP Alvick Maharaj met stakeholders in Labasa and district advisors at the Hotel North Pole yesterday as per his one week tour of the Northern Division.
The district advisors raised concerns of road infrastructure and how people were affected by the unfavourable road conditions.
Acknowledging the concerns, Mr Maharaj said he would look into the matter but he encouraged the MWH Global road contractors to work together with the district advisors.
He also emphasised that issues concerning roads faced by the respective district advisors must be directed to the Fiji Roads Authority (FRA), and they would inform the road contractors on roads that required attention.
MP Maharaj also visited other rural communities in the North as part of Government’s policy to seek out issues faced by the people.
Special administrator for Labasa and Savusavu Vijay Chand commended the Government’s initiative to look at the condition of town roads.
