Rako To Dazzle ANOC Gala Awards

A Suva-based dancing group has been chosen to perform at the Association of National Olympic Committees Annual Awards next week in Washington DC, USA.
Rako Pasefika will represent the Oceania Region among other international cultural performing artists at ANOC annual gala dinner at the Daughter’s of Revolution Constitution Hall.
Rako is an artistic movement based in Fiji, formed by a group of Rotuman and Polynesian artists as part of their quest to gain more insight, depth and knowledge of their heritage.
The team consists of performing artists from the ages of 14 to 28; all young Pacific islanders who have trained at Rako Pasefika.
“Rako will be performing a five minute piece that highlights the beauty and depth of our Rotuman heritage,” Letila Mitchell, Rako co-founder and artistic director said.
“The piece also shows the links we have to our island relatives particularly Rabi, Walis and Futuna, Tonga and Tahiti.”
