Fijians Impress

Yamacia recorded the most impressive win on Day One of the UON Central Coast 7s in New South Wales yesterday.
This is despite losing their first game against a strong Gordon Tietjens-coached New Zealand 7s Development side 17-0.
Yamacia came back to beat Sunnybank 19-10 and edge the Australia 7s development side in a surprising 31-17 win.
Newcomers, Tabadamu, also stamped their mark in the competition and proved an impressive side recording convincing wins on Day One of the tournament.
The Byron Bay 7s winners beat Manly 39-0 in their first game, thrashed Canada Maple Leafs 43-7 before edging Wellington 28-14.
Former England 7s players and Telecom Fijiana coach Chris Cracknell, who watched a bit of both the teams games, said both sides put on impressive performances.
“I hardly watched the men’s games but from what I could tell Yamacia and Tabadamu were really impressive,” Cracknell said.
“They definitely have a lot to offer and the Vodafone Fijian 7s players definitely have put their hands up for selection and are serious about it after their performance.”
Meanwhile, defending champions Daveta cruised through their pool beating Tiger Rugby 31-14, edging Hong Kong 26-5 and thrashing Ozboks 33-7.
Redrock on the other hand, have had a disappointing first day losing two of their games against Aussie Thunderbolts (36-12) and Rangataua (19-12) respectively before coming back strong to thrash Germany 30-0.
In the Kinesio Central Coast 7s, the Telecom Fijiana side topped their table having convincing wins over Stars Rugby (USA) 35-0, Sunnybanks 34-5 and thrashing Central Coast Academy 69-5.
