It was also proud moment for the college teachers and students when their school won the secondary schools division of the Spell Well competition organised by Fiji Television.

Year 12 student and Spell Well team captain Mark Penjueli said:  “This win is very special and overwhelming for us because we only had one week to prepare for the competition.

“We had fresh team members because none of us took part in the competition before,” he said.

Mark said they did not expect to win the competition and they were surprised when their team defeated Natabua High School.

“Our team had great support from our teacher, friends and parents,” Mark said.

Meanwhile, English teacher and Spell Well team co-ordinator Yogita Naicker said: “I am feeling so happy that our school won the competition.

“The students had a great learning experience representing the school for the competition,” she said.

Mrs Naicker said the JNC participated in Spell Well completion before but this is the first time they had won the competition.
