Cricket Fiji coach Shane Jurgensen has resigned after one year in the position.
CF general manager Inoke Lesuma says Jurgensen comes from a very high level coaching environment.
“He was a former coach of Bangladesh and prior to that he was the assistant coach for the New Zealand Black Caps,” Lesuma said.
“With that calibre and the amount of time that he has spent with us we didn’t hold him as much as we want to. Ever since he came in he was receiving numerous offers but he turned them down.
“This is the right time for him to go and he is a fulltime coach and he needs to work with other big countries. There is no special reason as to why he resigned but it’s all about taking the best opportunity that you are given.
“I wouldn’t want to stop him because he needs to further his career and he needs to support his family and I can tell you that he has done a lot to Fiji.”
Jurgensen signed a three-year contract with Cricket Fiji.
“Having him to go is a huge loss to us but for us we will have to continue the good work he has left behind. It’s all about moving forward for us.”
