With a proud history of 70 years of bus manufacturing in Fiji, family-owned business PA Lal Group of Companies future shines bright.
PA Lal Group of Companies is one of the entrants for the 2015 Westpac Prime Minister’s Exporter of the Year Awards.
The gala dinner event will be held next Saturday at the Sheraton Convention Centre on Denarau Island in Nadi.
The company won the Import Substitution award in 2013, the first year it had applied and is looking for another winning streak at the 2015 Awards.
The company has been building buses and coaches for not only the domestic market but has also been exporting to countries in the region such as Nauru, Kiribati and Samoa.
Group general manager, Lawrence Robert, said their local clients included bus operators, tourist transport providers and the Fijian Government.
“Buses manufactured by PA Lal Coachwork range from standard curtain buses to luxury air conditioned coaches,” he said.
“In terms of product type, PA Lal Coachwork has had to be market responsive.
“Over the years we have worked out what best suits local conditions to meet local & overseas demand.
“It is these products that the company has invested in, in terms of research and development.
“As a result, products produced meet the test of longevity, durability, efficiency and economy in terms of our local Fiji conditions.”
Technology
Mr Robert said the latest technology was used to manufacture their buses to ensure their products were competitive and affordable without compromising safety and quality.
“In terms of product type, the industry prides itself in the fact that there is no product type that would be demanded by the local market that the PA Lal Coachwork Ltd would not be able to manufacture,” he said.
