Responding To Richard Naidu

Prominent lawyer Richard Naidu’s response (see yesterday’s Fiji Sun letters) on pro bono matters and the public good didn’t go without comment in response.

Asked one well informed man of the city who cannot be named because of the position he holds: So why are some lawyers charging a large load of money in the name of the public good? Human rights lawyers don’t come cheap. NGOs have to run around overseas to raise funds for exorbitant legal fees. So self righteous.

Familiar name

So is it a daughter of a SODELPA heavyweight who is facing court in the latest case involving alleged pornography?

Connections?

Heard about the latest from the titles office?

When a lawyer submits documents, we hear that errors are very quickly identified.

But word around the grog bowl is that if you lodge your documents through a certain “agent” – and pay a fee – very soon the documents are filed. Really?
