First Light, Suva Impress

It was a successful day one for the Yellow Ribbon Programme (YRP) Wardens 7s tournament at Subrail Park in Labasa yesterday.
Fiji Corrections Service supervisor northern Apakuki Qura said the battle for a spot to play in the Coral Coast 7s in January starts today.
“So far the favourites are First Light from Taveuni Island, Wardens Gold and Warden Green from Suva,” Quca said.
Wardens manager Maika Tunisa is confident that either of the teams will win the title.
“Suva Warden Gold has won all its pool games with prominent rugby reps Kitione Dawai, Ilai Tinai and Sakiusa Nadruku playing for the team,” Tunisa said.
He said Warden Green was also doing well as they also aim to help promote sevens rugby.
Vonoyauyau a team from Savusavu, in Cakaudrove won all pool games and has been qualified to play in the quarter finals.
Coach Osea Ramatau said although his team consisted of unemployed youths, he was confident they would win this tournament.
