West Tigers winger Kevin Naiqama is in the country to attend the wedding of Newcastle Knights all-time top try scorer Akuila Uate at the Warwick Fiji Resort today.

The former Knights arrived in the country last week and have been living at the Uprising Beach Resort in Pacific Harbour.

“I met Akuila when I was 17 living in Sydney and he was in Newcastle and after that I signed a contract with Newcastle back in 2008. Wes Naiqama and I moved up to Newcastle and Akuila moved in with us and we were living together for three years.

“We were close and when I made my first debut with the Knights I also made it my career along with my brother which was very special.

“It’s a big thing for him and his partner Samantha and I’ve know them for a very long time. Obviously it’s a great moment for both of them and I wish all the best and many more years to come,” Kevin said.

The 26 year old Nabuna, Koro, Lomaiviti lad is the younger brother of Wes Naiqama.

“After the wedding I’ll fly back on Sunday because I’ll have to be at my club for training. I’ve been doing some of my own training, keeping in shape and hitting the gym which is good.

“Obviously we got a test match against Samoa next year, so have to get all the boys together and hope to get a win and yes the World Cup is in two years time

Kevin played alongside Uate when he joined Newcastle Knights and also part of the Vodafone Fiji Bati team for the 2013 Rugby League World Cup.
