Canadian Tourist Impressed With Parade

Very impressive, were the words uttered by tourist Tim Milton as he witnessed members of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces marching in Suva yesterday for the Change of Guard ceremony at the President’s residence.
The RFMF Brass Band escorted the incoming RFMF guard unit in a parade from the Suva Flea Market to the President’s residence at the Nasese foreshore. The RFMF took over the guard duties from the Fiji Police Force.
Mr Milton is a visitor from Canada and while comparing the Change of Guard ceremonies for both the countries, said this was beautifully done.
“I am impressed with the foot and arms drill performed to precision by the two forces, it was a delightful sight,” the 58-year-old said while taking video of the ceremonial change.
Local residents also stood to witness the event.
The Change of Guard ceremony is a monthly tradition where the handover of guard duties between the Military and the Police takes place.
