Suva Wardens team manager Maika Tunisa was the happiest man during the Yellow Ribbon Wardens 7s tournament at Subrail Park in Labasa yesterday.

The two teams he brought from Suva played in the final in which Warden Gold beat Warden Green 26-7.

“I was confident both teams will play in the final and I’m happy it did happen,” Tunisa said.

“We will be taking home $5500, $4000  for the winner and runner-up $1500)

“We have lot of time available to work on our combination and fitness level.

“After our game in the final tournament then we will decide which players will go for the Coral Coast 7s.

“We have very prominent reps in the team such Kitione Taliga.

“I’ve two teams of wonderful players with great talents and skills and I thank them for participating in this tournament.”

Meanwhile, 22-year-old Taliga would return to Labasa next week to play in the Provincial 7s tournament.

 What happened:

In the first-half Warden Green 7-14 Warden Gold

Joshua Kurunabili of Warden Green converted a try.

Then the captain of Wardens Gold who is the former national 7s rep Sakiusa Nadruku converted a try followed by Soladrua Radinirova closing the first-half with another converted try leading Warden Gold by 14 points.

In the second-half Radinirova returned and scored a converted try and then Jone Tanoa sealed it with a win by another five points.
