Students can expect a change in the annual  Fiji University Games in future.

This was after the first Fiji University Games organising committee workshop held at the Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee’s FASANOC office in Suva yesterday.

The workshop review the 2015 Fiji University Games, its future, the identification of key functional areas and development of event operational plans.

Australian University Sport national programmes manager Donna Spethman said if all goes well for next year’s Fiji University Games, there could be an invitation to invite island nations.

“The workshop is to help them organise the event to make sure students have an amazing opportunity to compete and represent their university next year,” Spethman said.

“Students will be able to compete in a total of 26 sports.

“We are just meeting to get things organised and get things ready and underway.”

Meanwhile, Fiji University Sports Association secretary Gabrielle Qoro said they were fortunate to have Spethman.

The Fiji University Games is held in September every year and attracts over 2000 students from local tertiary institutions.
