Unit Trust of Fiji was among the eight institutions receiving the prize level achievement at the Fiji National University Fiji Business Excellence Awards Night at the Sheraton Fiji Resort last Saturday night.
General manager Vilash Chand said it was a joyful and proud moment for Unit Trust of Fiji team as they have created history with their achievement.
Mr Chand said, in the last 36 years, it was the first time Unit Trust of Fiji has received such a prestigious award.
“We are just a 12 member team with the total assets of $120 million and we made it possible. It was a worthwhile journey indeed,” he said.
He added the team decided to be evaluated against the Fiji business excellence framework in 2013 where they received the achievement level.
“Our journey towards the Fiji business excellence has been challenging and at the same time rewarding.
“We have transformed our business leadership and management, processes and systems and overall operations to modernise the organisation and align to the industry best practices,” he said.
Mr Chand commended their board’s guidance, Chairman Ikbal Jannif, Shaenaz Voss, director Maciu Lumelume, Trustees, Iowane Naiveli and Anil Tikaram.
“What we achieved today is the hard work and unwavering support from my senior management team, Sakiusa Bolaira and Rueben Gyanesh for dedication and commitment,” he said.
He also thanked the staff, secretariat and the onsite evaluation team for their support and guidance.
