Manubhai Group of Companies is going big into this year’s Westpac Prime Minister’s Exporter of the Year Awards with three of its companies vying for a win.

Its subsidiaries Roofing & Profiles (Fiji) Limited, CRP Industries Limited and Manubhai Industries Limited, are competing in three categories.

These are Bank of Baroda Small Exporter of the Year, Technix Pacific Limited Emerging Exporter of the Year and Golden Manufacturers Limited Manufacturing Exporter of the Year.

The gala dinner awards event will be held on Saturday at the Sheraton Convention Centre on Denarau Island in Nadi.

While the awards process is not new to Roofing & Profiles (Fiji), the other two companies are first-timers at the awards.

Group director, Bhavesh Kumar, said Roofing & Profiles Fiji Ltd won medium exporter of the year in 2005, but were not able to apply since then till 2013.

“Since 2013, we have continuously applied for the Small Exporter of the Year category but this is the first time we applied for all three mentioned categories.”

And while they have not secured any awards since 2009, Mr Kumar said the participation itself made them as proud as the recognition earned during the ceremony.

He said as well as the positive contribution towards the economy was tremendous.

“Further, we were able to know, the other exporters, strategies and the niche markets approach for the development of our export segment,” Mr Kumar said.

 

Future plans

In terms of plans, Mr Kumar said they are investing more on new product developments and expansion of their market in future.

The group has already incurred major investments on plant & machineries and factory buildings for the development of capacities.

“We are now equipped with manpower and other physical resources to increase our capacities and planning to achieve Medium scale export milestone within next three years,” he said.
