North Ports Of Entry Up To Date

Prioritising services to the travelling public in the northern port of entries is the aim of the Commissioner Northern’s Department.
Divisional planning officer northern Alipate Bolalevu said the Department handled infrastructure developments such as the availability of waiting sheds and convenience rooms’ at all major port of entries in the North.
“Nabouwalu Jetty, Taveuni Jetty and Savusavu Jetty are the three major ports that passengers access daily,” Mr Bolalevu said.
“Our Department tries to ensure that passengers who roll in and roll out from these jetties are content with the services.”
Mr Bolalevu said they have connectivity and reception at the same time, co-ordinating facilities such as the waiting shed to suit ferry passengers needs.
“We also make sure there is transport available when a ship berths at a particular port of entry and other infrastructure developments that needs attention to detail.”
Mr Bolalevu added they co-ordinated their services in line with the Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) for the further development of port of entries in the division.
“We work in line with FRA for the full development of jetties in the North,” Mr Bolalevu said.
“So far we have proper waiting sheds in Taveuni, Nabouwalu and Savusavu ports whereas FRA handles the development of the jetty itself,” he said.
