Trade and Tourism to be given increased allocation is what the Fiji-US Business Council is hopeful for from the 2016 National Budget.
BSP Fiji -Bank chief financial officer and immediate Past President Rajeshwar Singh said: “We would expect no major shift in Government’s focus towards inclusive and sustainable growth with large allocation in 2016 Budget towards investment in ongoing improvement of infrastructure.”
“More so, must continue with the current momentum to achieve economic growth over 5%.”

Tax Regime
Mr Singh added: “We are not expecting any new tax regime but cut back on too many freebies.
“Tax concessions to be reviewed in view of level of confirmed investment and inflow of capital. Consider review of vat on zero rated items.
“New Income tax Act must be understood and greater emphasis on compliance in 2016.”
The announcement of the 2016 National Budget will be made by the Attorney General and Minister for Finance, Public Service, and Public Enterprise Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum on Friday.
