Fiji rugby U20 extended squad have marched into camp yesterday with the aim of qualifying to the Junior World championships.
Team head coach Salimoni Ravouvou said all 35 players including New Zealand-based Filimoni Waqainabete and Filimoni Savou have marched into camp.
“The boys are in good form and are looking forward to the challenge on November 27 even though we will be playing against teams like Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu we will have respect for all the teams.
“We believe these teams have also prepared well and will be here with one aim and that is to qualify for Junior World trophy in April next year and later to the Junior rugby championship,” Ravouvou said.
For the newly elected U20 coach Ravouvou knows the challenge is on him to fly the country’s flag in the tier one competition again.
“It’s not an easy task all we need is the country’s support towards these boys to get us back to the main tier one competition.”
The 35 extended squad will further reduce to 26 following the two weeks of training. Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu and Tonga will take part in the competition which will be held at the ANZ Stadium on November 27 to December 5.
