Land Transport Authority (LTA), staff will now be able to learn first-hand from their New Zealand counterparts in sharing training and skills development expertise in land transportation.

This follows the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU), between LTA and their New Zealand counterpart.

LTA chief executive officer Naisa Tuinaceva said the authority was looking abroad to strengthen and enhance its level of service- delivery capacity.

“There are a number of technical as well as compliance and standards issues and other operational matters that we want to discuss with them and what contribution they can offer to allow us improve on this areas,’’ Mr Tuinaceva said.

“I believe most of our counterparts have adopted the most suitable, latest and current working apparatus being practiced around the world and we need to adopt it as well; it’s for the general improvement and changing and enhancing LTA’s customer service delivery.”

He said this would include compliance and traffic management systems; joint conferences, workshops and training sessions, best practices and innovations in the transportation sector and other co-operation areas.

The authority currently also has an existing MOU with Vic Roads of Australia and the New South Wales Transport which was signed early this year.
