An eight-year-old was overjoyed of his mother’s achievement when she graducated from the Australian-Pacific Technical College (APTC) last Friday.
“I am proud of my mum,” said eight-year-old Rayaan Qays after his mother, Moureen Khan, graduated with a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
“I am feeling good and I am happy with my mum’s achievement,” Qays said.
He was with his father, Dilip Kumar, a Lautoka Muslim Primary School teacher, during the graduation.
“I used to miss my mum a lot when she was late to reach home in the evening. I waited for my mom every night before I went to bed,” he said.
He said his father always look after him while her mother studied.
Moureen Khan is a director for Day Care Centre in Lautoka.
“I am very happy that I have graduated,” she said.
“Every morning I used to travel to Namaka, Nadi, for my classes and return in the afternoon. I am so proud that my family members supported me a lot towards my studies for six months,” she said.
She said her husband looked after their two children while she studied.
