‘Cakaudrove Is Waiting For You’

The Roko Tui Cakaudrove, Filimone Naiqumu, told Cakaudrove inmates serving time at the Labasa Corrections Centre (LCC) that it was not the end of the world.
Speaking in iTaukei he told them the centre was a place that could mould them to become better persons.
“The centre is preparing you to be a good father, brother, son, grandfather or uncle before you return home,” Mr Naiqumu said.
“Your families and people of Cakaudrove are waiting for you to return home and lead a good life.
“I have great hope that you will contribute to the development of your families, Cakaudrove and Fiji.”
He gave them a living example when he referred to the caretaker of Cakaudrove provincial office.
“My caretaker served six months sentence at LCC and when he returned he rejoined his family and now works for our office,” he said.
The Roko said it was his third month serving as the Roko Tui Cakau and it was his first visit to the LCC.
“I also have plans to visit Cakaudrove inmates at other centres in Viti Levu to encourage them to know that we are waiting for their return.
“I believe in second chances,” he said.
He visited the LCC inmates with his office staff and the chief of Saqani Village, Sairusi Daugunu, yesterday.
