Labasa town will be opened on Tuesday night till 9pm.
This was confirmed by the Labasa Chamber of Commerce and Industries president Satish Kumar yesterday.
He said this would be done to give opportunities to civil servants, villagers coming from far distance and employees of various business organisations to do last-minute Diwali shopping.
“I will also be having discussion with Fiji Buses Operators Association president Parmod Chand if arrangement can be made to extend bus service till 9pm,” Mr Kumar said.
He said the last bus always leaves Labasa bus stand at 6pm.
“As for business operators my advice to them is that they should make the most of the extra business hours provided to make more money,” Mr Kumar said.
“However, the safety of people and town must be maintained at all times.”
