Government, through the Office of the Prime Minister, has spent over $1.3million in the improvement of infrastructure and other services for the province of Navosa.

This was highlighted to villagers during a talanoa session by the divisional planning officer Western, Sitiveni Tavaga.

“The Office of the Prime Minister has funded 36 projects in the province of Navosa and government will continue to recognise the need to ensure infrastructure developments are improved in rural areas,” Mr Tavaga said.

Close to 70 per cent of projects funded by the Prime Minister’s office has been directed towards  improvements in school facilities such as dormitories, dining halls, teachers’ quarters, desks and chairs and cooking utensils for the schools.

“Twenty-seven projects out of the 36 are focussed on raising the standard of education of our children in Navosa while nine projects are community based projects.”

Mr Tavaga added that over the last 10 years, Government has spent over $15m for the province particularly in improving roads links, electricity, water, health, education and income livelihood projects for the communities.
