Council Calls for More Dialogue

The Custom Brokers and Forwarders Council of Fiji is making a proposal to all its stakeholders on ‘systematic’ issues they face.
CBFCF general secretary Ronald Dass told Shipping News that these issues were logical and could easily be resolved through dialogue with a win-win situation to all parties. This is to allow an easy flow of transaction among its members.
Mr Dass said one of these is concerning the clearance from the dock.
“These policies of review of fees and charges need consultation, which are on the high side, moving interest more to revenue collection.
“The CBFCF looks after the interest of its members that are involved with the clearing of goods through customs, quarantine, health and other border agencies barriers for importers and exporters.
“The prime objective of the CBFCA is to represent member’s interests in the trade logistic service industry and to promote the professional development of its members.
“Also on health care there is a need for such profession to be stationed on the wharf at all times,” he said.
