Minister Happy With Naboro Landfill Funding

Government has allocated $1.7million for Stage II of the Naboro Landfill project.
And an additional $2m has been allocated for the construction of a waste transfer station to improve environmental health in the Central Division.
Minister for Environment Parveen Kumar said the Department of Environment would be creating space at the Naboro Landfill which is almost full.
“We have been allocated funds to work on the Naboro Landfill because the first stage of waste disposal is almost full,” he said.
“We need to create space within the next six months and I am happy that the funds the environment department had requested for was approved.
“It is an increase in allocation for the environment department and now it depends on my staff to make sure that it is delivered because this is what they had asked for and now they need to deliver,” Mr Kumar said.
In total the Ministry of Local Government and Environment was provided $35m for 2016, an increase of $2.4m over the 2015 budget.
