Claims Of PM In Critical Illness Are Lies
Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama.

Claims on anti-government social media sites overseas that Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama is in a critical condition in hospital are not true.

In fact, this morning he attended the swearing-in ceremony of Fiji’s new President, Jioji Konrote.

Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum told the Fiji Sun last night Prime Minister Bainimarama was not in a critical condition but had been a bit ill.

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum  said the PM was resting at home.

“He is fine and now recovering well and is not admitted at the hospital,” he said.

Mr Bainimarama was unable to attend the farewell ceremony for the former President, Ratu Epeli Nailatikau, yesterday at  Government House.

Ratu Epeli sent his well wishes to the Prime Minister yesterday when he delivered his last speech as President at the ceremony.
