The Korean Government will re-open the Pacific regional office of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in Suva.

Minister for Foreign Affairs Ratu Inoke Kubuabola was advised of this development by Korean Ambassador Seong-in Kim during a meeting today.

KOICA opened its regional operations office in the Solomon Islands in 2012.  Ratu Inoke offered the Ministry’s assistance to facilitate the return of KOICA.

KOICA’s regional office will manage bilateral overseas development assistance (ODA) projects and serve as the base of regional development co-operation.

A field survey team for the feasibility study will be despatched to Fiji in early 2016 and the opening of the KOICA office is expected within the first half of 2016.
