The staff members of the Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation and residents from the Beggars Rehabilitation Centre in Colo-i-Suva celebrated Diwali on Tuesday.
The Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Rosy Akbar, thought it was best to come together on the eve of Diwali before heading home to celebrate Diwali their respective families.
Since the ministry looked after women, children and the poor in the country, Ms Akbar said it was important that they sit back and reflected on the work that the ministry had done.
“I think we all must commend ourselves for the job well done,” she said.
Ms Akbar congratulated her staff and hopes that they would continue their good work in the coming years and take their services to a whole new level.
