The two Vodafone Fijian 7s teams taking part in the Nukubati Resort Macuata Provincial Youths Sevens will not accept the $3000 cash prize if they win the final at Subrail Park today.

Tournament coordinator Peni Rakanace said the team which plays Fiji in the final will be given the prize-money.

In case the two teams feature in the final, the losing semifinalists will share the prize-money.

“We consider ourselves blessed to have the national teams taking part in our tournament,” Rakanace said.

“And the kind gesture not to get the cash prize if they win is indeed an honour.

“Both teams are almost likely to feature in the final and we’re happy our local boys got the opportunity to play against them.

“We will try to finish the tournament before 2.30pm because the Vodafone Fijian 7s team coach Ben Ryan and manager Ropate Kauvesi need to catch the last flight from Labasa to Nadi.”

Ryan plans to name the 16 players for the World Rugby World Sevens Series first round in Dubai and Cape Town next month.
