Vodafone Fijian 7s squad members and officials receive certificate of appreciation and gold medal in Seaqaqa on Tuesday.
And they will be hosted lunch today before they depart for Suva.
Hasim Khan, the managing director of Seaqaqa Shopping Centre, was excited that the team and Vodafone 7s coach Ben Ryan were coming through Seaqaqa for the Nukubati Resort Macuata Youth Sevens at Subrail Park in Labasa.
“Players and management have contributed to the success and development of rugby 7s and I am very thankful to them,” Khan said.
“The least we as people of Fiji can do is to show our appreciation and encourage them to do well in the upcoming World Sevens Series in Dubai and Cape Town next month.
“I know they will surely win and make us proud.”
Among the crowd was a 13-year-old Fazlin Farnaz who was mute (inability to speak often caused by a speech disorder, hearing loss, or surgery) from birth.
She expressed her excitement when she was hugged by Ryan.
The Turaga Ni Yavusa of Buavou in Macuata, Vilikesa Siqadromucala also welcomed the team with his wife Rawaqavuna.
“These players represent our nation and they have our full support and love,” Siqadromucala said.
“Whether they win or lose in the upcoming tournaments, we will always appreciate them.”
