Frank Farina is happy with the philosophy that Fiji Football Association launched yesterday in Suva.
The Fiji Football national coaching director said the philosophy, “Equality and Unity through Football to build a better Fiji,” is a simple but effective way to portray what Fiji FA wants to achieve.
“I think it’s fantastic, I think every sporting organisation, in particular football, has to have a philosophy and vision in regards to what you want to achieve in football,” he said.
“Football is the biggest game in the world, and I think with the philosophy that has been launched, in terms of quality and unity through football, it sums up what we want to try and achieve.
“The vision will come later in terms of how we want to achieve that but I think the philosophy is very unique and very clear as to what Fiji Football wants to do in terms of moving forward
“I think it’s very short and brief but precisely to the point and I am very happy with it. Now we move forward, it’s a clear philosophy and a clear vision.”
Chief guest and Minister for Education, Heritage and Arts Mahendra Reddy said sport was fast becoming an industry that develops a nation.
“I want to thank the leaders of Fiji FA for living up to the challenge of continuously questioning the existing body of knowledge, continuously challenging the issues and problems they are facing to find solutions,” Reddy said.
“Sport is no longer a backyard activity, it is becoming an industry and to me sport is an industry in Fiji and football is a subset of that industry.
“Football is the Number Two sport in Fiji and we cannot treat sports the way we used to treat sports some three decades ago.”
Present at the launch, Vodafone Fiji and its consortium partner, CJ Patel Limited, were proud to be part of the launch,
“We are proud to be associated with football in country,” Vodafone Fiji chief executive officer Pradeep Lal said. “Sport in Fiji is a uniting force. Sports bring out the passion and patriotism in our people like no other,” Lal said.
“The Football Philosophy will provide a guide to those involved with sports as players, administrators and officials of the purpose behind the existence of the sport.
“Far too often we are blinded by the short term glory of winning at any cost. There is much more that can be achieved through the sport with the victories that we all wish for.”
