Nausori Airport Bank Robbery Suspect, Matairavula, Arrested

He was wanted for alleged involvement in Visama and Nausori International Airport robberies

Peni Veisagai Matairavula, also known as (aka) Pakai, who was wanted for his alleged involvement in the robbery at the ANZ Bank branch at Nausori International Airport last month, was arrested last Wednesday in Rakiraki.

He has since been charged for his alleged involvement in a separate robbery in Visama, Nausori, some time in July and the ANZ Bank robbery at the airport.

Matairavula was charged with aggravated robbery and has since been remanded.

Police chief of intelligence and investigations, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Henry Brown thanked members of the public for helping in the arrest of Matairavula.

“The Fiji Police Force is truly appreciative of the co-operation showed by members of the community as information received did lead to his arrest. We are encouraged by this because it shows that people are willing to assist Police in crime prevention,” ACP Brown said.

“Meanwhile, we continue to plead for information regarding the other two suspects namely Ilaitia Vuivuda aka Vus and Mesake Sinu Leleiwasa, aka Sinu. The two are considered to be high risk criminals,” he said.

Anyone with information can call Crimestoppers on 919 or 9905 337.
