Cheyenne Rova and Taichi Vakasama scooped the female and male swimmers of the year respectively during the Fiji Swimming National Awards Night at Ocean Seafood Restaurant, in Nadi.

Both are members of the Barracudas Swimming Club who also won the Club of the Year award.

Coach of the year Rosemary Rova attributed the achievement to the bond between the swimmers and the parents.

“It is the support and bond between the swimmers and parents that have enabled us the awards this year,” she said.

“We did not expect to win the major awards but it is an achievement for us. It is the sacrifice of time to be one unit that made us stronger.”

Minister for Youth and Sports Laisenia Tuitubou said Fiji Swimming continued to grow and had a very healthy state of affairs.
